I bought a robot vacuum last week. It is small and round, like a big plate. I was not sure if it would really work well, but I decided to try it.
Every morning before I go to work, I press one button. The robot starts to move around my living room. It goes under the sofa and around the table. Sometimes it makes a small noise when it hits a chair leg.
It is not very fast. It takes almost one hour to clean my whole apartment. But it is very helpful, because I do not need to sweep the floor myself anymore.
When I come home, the floor is clean, and the robot is resting near the wall, waiting to charge its battery.
Now I have more free time in the morning. I can drink my coffee slowly instead of rushing to clean before work.

Science & techB1Since it was stripped of planetary status, Pluto’s defenders have been fighting the decision – and they’re only getting more passionateTwenty years ago, Pluto got demoted. After a vote by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in August 2006, Pluto was relegated from major planet to dwarf planet status. Our solar system dropped from nine planets to eight. At the time, many scientists were unhappy with the decision. Two decades on, the debate is, if anything, even more polarised.“The definition of a planet they created, you can’t use it at all,” says Philip Metzger, the director of the Stephen W Hawking Centre for Microgravity Research and Education at the University of Central Florida. “It makes the definition of a planet completely non-useful in science.” Continue reading...
