Jack Dawson

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Heylangs Podcast. I'm Jack Dawson. What is the first thing I do every morning? I pick up my phone. I look at my phone before my coffee! Today we are talking about phone apps. I use many apps every day. Let's start our conversation now.

Emma Wells

And I'm Emma Wells. Hello, listeners. Jack, your phone before your coffee? That is funny! But I love this topic, too. My phone has many useful apps. I am going to share three of my favorites. Are you ready? Let's go!

Jack Dawson

First, I use a map app every day. It is called Google Maps. I open it before I go somewhere new. It shows me the best way. I don't lose my way anymore. This app is very helpful.

Emma Wells

I use Google Maps, too! I am visiting a new part of London this week. The app shows me the way. It also shows nearby restaurants. I love finding new coffee shops with this app.

Jack Dawson

Second, I check a weather app every morning. I look at the app before I leave home. It tells me the temperature. It also tells me about rain. Then I know what to wear.

Emma Wells

I check my weather app, too. I am planning a bike ride this weekend. I want dry weather for my bike. The app shows five days of weather. This helps me plan my ride.

Jack Dawson

Third, I use a translation app. My friend Marco is from Italy. Sometimes I want to say a word in Italian. I type the English word. The app shows me the Italian word.

Emma Wells

Translation apps are amazing! My friend Sofia travels a lot by train. She visits many countries. She doesn't speak every language. She shows her phone to people. The app helps her talk to them easily.

Jack Dawson

I also use a food delivery app. I am a very bad cook. I don't have time to cook dinner. I open the app on my phone. I order food, and it comes to my door.

Emma Wells

I use a shopping app every week. I am buying groceries online now. I don't like going to the store. I put items in my cart. Then someone brings the food to my home.

Jack Dawson

My niece Mia uses a learning app for school. She is nine years old. She is doing her math homework right now. The app shows fun games with numbers. She is learning and playing at the same time. She loves this app very much.

Emma Wells

My friend Priya has two small children. Her son uses a reading app every night. He is reading a new story right now. The app reads the words out loud. He follows along with his finger. This helps him become a better reader.

Jack Dawson

I use a music app, too. I am listening to my favorite band right now. The app has millions of songs. I make playlists for driving and for working. Music apps make my day better.

Emma Wells

I use a photo app all the time. I am taking many pictures of my plants. The app saves all of my photos. It also makes fun albums for me. I share these albums with my Nan in Cardiff.

Jack Dawson

I use a fitness app in the morning. I am running with my dog Coco every weekend. The app counts my steps. It also tracks my running distance. This app helps me stay healthy.

Emma Wells

I use a calendar app for my work. I am adding a new meeting right now. The app sends me a reminder. I never forget an important date. This app keeps my life organized.

Jack Dawson

Some apps are free, and some apps cost money. I usually download free apps first. Then I use the app for a week. Sometimes I pay for more features. This is a common way to use apps.

Emma Wells

I think apps make our lives easier. We are doing many tasks with just one phone. Now, apps are a normal part of daily life. My Nan says it is like magic. Maybe she is right!

Jack Dawson

I also use a banking app. I am checking my money right now. I don't need to go to the bank. I can send money to my friends. I can also pay my bills with this app.

Emma Wells

I use a banking app, too! I am paying my electricity bill right now. It only takes one minute. I don't wait in a long line now. I do it from my sofa at home.

Jack Dawson

My friend Marco uses a video call app every week. He is calling his parents right now. They live in Italy. He sees their faces on the screen. This app makes him feel close to them.

Emma Wells

I use a video call app for work, too. I am talking to Jack right now, but on the phone! Sometimes we are in different cities. We can still see each other and talk. This app saves us a lot of travel time.

Jack Dawson

I also have a notes app on my phone. I am writing my shopping list right now. I don't carry paper anymore. I write everything in this app. I can check my list at the store easily.

Emma Wells

I use a notes app for my ideas. I am writing a new idea right now. Sometimes I think of something at night. I quickly write it in my app. Then I don't forget it in the morning.

Jack Dawson

There is also a game app on my phone. I am playing a puzzle game right now. I play it on the bus every day. It is a fun way to pass the time. My favorite game has colorful blocks.

Emma Wells

Priya's children play learning games on their tablet. They are playing a spelling game right now. The game shows pictures and letters. They spell the word correctly to win points. It is fun and educational at the same time.

Jack Dawson

I use a news app every morning. I am reading the news right now with my coffee. The app shows stories from around the world. I can read about sports, weather, and science. This helps me start my day well.

Emma Wells

I use a podcast app, too, like this one! I am listening to Heylangs right now. I listen while I am cooking or cleaning. Podcasts help me learn new things every day. I love finding new episodes every week.
