Intermediate is the independent stage: you can follow the main points of real Japanese texts about familiar topics. These lessons use longer texts and natural phrasing, so you meet the language as people really use it.

- Describe experiences, plans and opinions.
- Read straightforward articles and stories.
About 2,000 words and roughly 350–400 hours of study to reach this level.
